February's Favorites

Ewww, I am like 11 days late! Of course, that's nothing new...I am always late and when you add three kids, pregnant with number four and a husband to the mix, I am lucky to post anything at all!

This month I have had more hits than misses. Let me start by saying a few things. Beauty products, fashion items, accessories, perfume, books, movies, etc are all about what works for YOU! What may be the newest YouTube/Beauty Blogger hit just might not work with you at all. I am not a go with the flow kinda girl. If it doesn't work for me, its a miss. I give my honest opinion on products, based on how they effected me, not just because everybody else loves it. When I created this beauty blog, I wasn't aiming to hit a zillion subscribers, land myself in a magazine or become the next biggest guru. My only goal was to go against the grain here in the online beauty world and show makeup styles for both expensive & inexpensive products and prove that even a 30 year old mom of 3 (almost 4) can rock the makeup and fashion world.

Here are this month's hits. Some are things I have mentioned before that I am still using regularly; others are new products that I am loving at the moment. Click the links to see the actual product. I don't have a lot this month. I've been really busy so I have been just using a lot of my holy grail products, which you can read here.

Makeup
  • Vaseline Lip Therapy (Cherry): This is a cheap lip conditioner that I am wearing daily. In fact, multiple times per day. Its been fairly cold here in Georgia and that means one thing for me: dry lips and skin. Of course, Vaseline is great for moisturizing any areas. The thing I like most aside from the quick moisturizing is the fact that it isn't sticky and it doesn't alter my lip color at all. I spread this on my lips, top it with any type of lip product and you never know I have Vaseline on my lips. OR I use it on top of a lip product for some mega shine! It smells and tastes good too lol!
  • Covergirl Lash Blast 24 Hour Mascara: This mascara is awesome. It is a really pigmented black so it doesn't take 40 billion coats to achieve those blackest black lashes, which is what I love because my hair is so dark brown it is almost black. It also lasts forever. I have had a lot of favorite mascaras over the years, both high end and inexpensive, but if you are looking for staying power, this is the one for you. I had a hard time removing it with eye makeup remover so I went old school and used a homemade makeup remover to get it off. It really stays in place!
  • L'oreal Bare Naturale Gentle Mineral Eyeliner: This is a black powder eyeliner and comes with a small angled brush. I actually got it in a set off the clearance rack for $2 at Wal-Mart. It came with a couple of mineral eyeshadows but there wasn't much spectacular about them. But I am loving this powder eyeliner. I have used it every day since I got it. It sifts out of small holes so only a very small amount is gathered in the container. The angled brush that is attached to the lid is amazing. It creates a perfect line, from a thin straight line to a thicker dramatic cat eye. To be honest, my eyeliners lines are much more even with this powder and brush combo than with other eyeliner products. It is heavy pigmented, too, so one coat is all that is needed. It doesn't fade like you would think it would. It also works great to set your liquid eyeliner. It does have a lot of flake offs so make sure to tap the excess off the brush.
  • L'oreal True Match Foundation: This is still my favorite foundation and I use it every day, unless I need a heavy, photo type coverage. I love how easy it blends in but my absolute favorite is the fact that it matches my skin perfectly. This is the absolute best every day foundation there is and you can't beat the price, about 7 bucks at stores like Dollar General & Wal-Mart while it runs about $10 online. (My shade is currently natural ivory cool, which will change drastically this summer because I tan so easily.)
  • L'oreal True Match Bronze Glow: This is an amazing liquid bronzer. It looks like it is heavy pigmented and full of glitter but it doesn't look that way on. Its really easy to blend in and gives your face a beautiful glow. I have been using this to contour my cheeks with that way I have that beautiful bronzed tint and definition to my cheeks without relying on two different products. Just remember to shake well before using; it separated very easily. (My fave shade is light bronze)

Miscellaneous
  • I love fantasy books and films. In February, I started reading the Lord of the Rings books again and it was just like the first time. The Hobbit film is coming out soon and I can't wait!
  • Breaking Dawn has been my favorite film out of the Twilight Saga. Of course, I own the books because I am a book freak but the movie is amazing. I love the passion between Edward & Bella, the obvious love he has for her and the natural mother instinct she has for her unborn child. Any mother will tell you they will gladly surrender their life in the hope of saving their child, even if he/she hasn't been born yet. Can't wait til the second part comes out!
  • Tattoo: This is a cheap perfume available at the Dollar General. I smelled it when I was in there getting a few household products and fell in love. It smells amazing. It's a softer, very feminine scent. And for $4, you can't beat it. I have bunch of perfumes and this is definitely my current favorite.
