I already covered The BH Cosmetics 88 Standard Matte Eyeshadow Palette in a neutral makeup tutorial and briefly touched on my opinion about it. I'm slightly embarrassed to say I had never heard about bh cosmetics until I came across DulceCandy87's YouTube Channel. (Y'all should check her blog out too, she is hella cool and talented!) After watching a few of her tutorials, I decided to get a 88 palette for bh cosmetics and chose to go with the standard matte colors to start with.
First, the colors are beautiful and there are literally hundreds of complementing combinations within this one palette. As I said in the previous post, the easiest way to describe this palette and the specific colors in by columns (left to right) and numbers. There are 11 columns, each with 8 eyeshadow colors. So in future tutorials if I say column 5, color 4- you know it will be the fifth column from the left and the fourth color down. This will avoid any confusion until I get my videos going again. Most of the colors are matte but there are several that have a slight shimmer.
Although the palette is full of both bright and neutral shades, I would call it a more natural color palette, even though it has several bright greens, pinks and reds. This palette is perfect for everyday wear. It has several great shades for both the tradition black smokey eye and the more natural brown smokey eye. BUT (and there always is a but) I have found the colors require a really good eyelid primer or a cream eyeshadow base to really achieve a deep, vibrant color. Since I am a shimmer kinda woman, I use a Skin Vitamins Shimmer Pale Silver cream eyeshadow as a base. It adds just a hint of shimmer to the color and really makes the palette colors pop.
For a more fun, flirty eye, there are 7 columns of brighter colors from pale green to bright red that work great for giving your eyes a colorful look. I really love the turquoise shades in column 5 and the bronze shades in columns 10 and 11. These colors are terrific for us blue-eyed dolls!
Overall, for the inexpensive price tag and the large amount of colors, I would recommend this to both beginners to experiment with as well as makeup pros. I am definitely going to purchase the Shimmer Palette next.
Having a ball trying out the different colors til next time..... <3 Missie <3
