Bright Eyeliner Tips & Tricks

Hi Guys! I recently received an email question about using brightly colored eyeliners, pinks, purples & greens specifically. These colors are perfect for adding a special P0P to your eyes. Whatever bright color you are wanting to use, keep the rest of your makeup neutral colors & light.
Here are a few tips to get the most of your popping eyeliner!
  1. Keep your eyeshadow colors neutral & light. Pale brown, bronze, honey & gray colors are great background colors for bright eyeliners because it makes the color more noticable.
  2. Tighten up those water lines with a black eyeliner pencil. This just means to apply a light coat of a basic black eyeliner to each of your lash lines, directly between each of the lashes. Expose the inner lash lines by gently lifting the upper eyelid & pressing gently underneath the eye.
  3. Apply two coats of the colored eyeliner on the upper eyelid only, from corner to corner.
  4. Find a matching eyeshadow color and add it on top of the colors eyeliner to hold the color in place & make it more vibrant.
  5. Use a pencil brush to line the lower lashes with the matching eyeshadow. The eyeshadow will give a smokey, vibrant look to the eye that is harder to achieve with just the eyeliner.
  6. Curl your lashes. This will open the eyes up & had to the dramatic effect of the eyes.
  7. Apply a generous amount of black mascara. The bright eyeliner color will contrast against the black for a more colorful effect.
  8. Keep the cheeks & lips very nude. This brings all the focus to the brightest part of your face, which will be your eyes.
To find the most complimenting colors together, use the color wheel. I even use this when using colored eyeliner so I know if the liner will compliment or contrast with my natural eye color. But you can use this for all sorts of makeup applications, from choosing complimenting eyeshadow colors to matching a shadow color with a cheek color. Nothing looks more clownish than unmatching makeup from your eyes to cheeks to lips.

The most important tip when experimenting with awesome eyeliner colors is to have fun! There are no specific rules, just tips & tricks to getting the most from your makeup. Til next time.... <3 Missie <3
