Hi guys! This is my absolute favorite makeup look for summer!! And it is the easiest look to create for a summer inspired sunkissed look but at the same time doesn’t require the full foundation, powder coverage.
The steps are super simple and I will upload photos and a video as soon as I can. The instructions are pretty self-explanatory and the amount of makeup required for each step just depends on your own skin tone and condition as well as your personal preferences. The eyeshadow colors really should be heavy pigmented. This just means the color is deep enough to be seen brightly/darkly with one to two coats.
Here’s what you are going to need:
- Concealer with small concealer brush
- Bronzer with bronzing brush
- Bright yellow shimmer eyeshadow
- Gold/bronze shimmer eyeshadow
- Light toned matte color of your choice for highlight
- Any eyeshadow brush for lid
- Crease/Blending brush
- Waterproof mascara
- White eyeliner pencil
- Black eyeliner liquid or gel
- Clear lip gloss
Here’s what you do:
- Use the concealer brush to apply an even coat of concealer to under the eye and to any problem area on your face. Make sure to blend it in well because this look is one I use when going to cookouts or to the beach so I look nice but don’t want heavy makeup to just run or sweat off. Use your finger to gently pat the concealer on to your eye lid. This will work the same as eye primer to keep your eyeshadow from creasing or smearing.
- From the apples of the cheeks (the very rounded part of your cheeks when you smile) to your temple, apply very, very light strokes of the bronzer with your bronzing brush. To create just a slight glimmer, sun kissed look, hold the bronzing brush as close to the end as possible and make short, backward strokes up to your temple. Without adding more bronzer, run the brush across your forehead, lightly down the bridge your nose and the center of your chin.
- Use one side of your eyeshadow brush (I used the short, flat shadow brush from e.l.f.) to pat the yellow shadow on the eye lid from the top lash line to the eye crease. Patting the color on will result in less powder residue to flake off. The color should be applied dark enough to be a bright yellow color. Use what is left on the brush and apply it under your eye, all the way across. Use the other side of the brush to apply the highlight--a thin coat of the light color from your eyebrow arch down to meet the yellow color. Extend this highlight to your inner eye corner.
- Use the crease/blending brush to apply the gold/bronze color to your crease. I make small ‘poke’ like strokes across the crease. Then create a small triangle on the outside corner of your eye by using the brush and lightly drawing a line from your crease to the outside corner and then on the lower lash line in the outside corner area only. Do not go all the way across the lash line with this color. Continue following the crease and outside corner in this same method until the color is bright.
- Use the same brush to blend. In the crease, make windshield wiper motions back and forth to blend in the harsh lines. On the outside corner, you will blend this color in by making small, circular motions and extending the color up to the bottom of your brown bone. Then, where the yellow and gold color meet on the lid make small, zig zag motions back and forth to create a blending center instead of two harsh colored lines. Do not over blend or the colors will combine and turn to a brown.
- Now, it’s time for eyeliner. The white liner should be applied to your water line. For those that don’t know, this is the inner line of the lower eye lid. Gently use your finger to press under your bottom eyelashes to expose your water line. Avoid tugging your eye down because the under eye is extremely fragile and pulling/tugging can cause this area to wrinkle more. The white liner will cause your eyes to be really open. It will reflect off the yellow and gold colors for a really bright eye.
- Use the liquid/gel liner to line your upper lashes. This should be a very thin line for the daytime and thicker for night. This look is perfect for summer nights or days. Add about two coats of mascara to your upper lashes. Make sure it is waterproof. Add one coat to the lower lashes. If this is for a night look, false eyelashes work perfect, too. (I wear it both ways)
- Use a Q-tip with a dab of petroleum jelly and work it back and forth across your lips. Leave the petroleum jelly on for at least one full minute then wipe off with a dry wash rag, applying some pressure. This really conditions your lips, removes any dead skin and brings out your natural color. Apply a few coats of the clear gloss and you are ready for any summertime outing.
The petroleum jelly step is optional. Twice a week, I apply the petroleum to my lips before I wash my face for the night. I just add the petroleum jelly to my lips and go through my nighttime face ritual. Right before I rinse my face in cold water, I use a cloth to gently rub the petroleum jelly into my lips and then wipe it off. The very last thing I do every night is splash very, very cold water on my face because it shocks the pores and causes them to close and shrink. Hope everyone loves this look as much as I do!!!
Til next time..... <3 Missie <3
